ニコラ・ショパンの息子 The Son Of Nicolas Chopin

Frederic Chopin was Polish/French pianist and composer during the Romantic era. Most of his works were written for solo piano, and he was one of the finest concert pianists of his time.

His father, Nicolas (Nicholas) Chopin who was a school teacher moved to Poland from France as a teenager.

When Frederic was 21, the Russian army invaded Warsaw, Poland. He was traveling in another country at the time, and the political turmoil made it too dangerous for him to go back home.

Therefore, Chopin stayed in France for the rest of his life. He missed his home and family very much and dreamt of seeing his country again.

However, he never returned to Poland.

Though he eventually received French citizenship, and his father was French, he stil considered himself as Polish.

「ポーランド」を代表する音楽家と言えば、フレデリック・ショパンですよね。

彼は、ポーランド人して知られていますが、彼のお父さんは、「フランス」から「ポーランド」に移住した「フランス人」です。

彼の「ポーランド」に対する愛国心は尋常でなかったと言われていますが、戦局下にあった当時の社会事情を知れば知るほど、帰国がままらなかったという政治的事情の中で、祖国や同胞を想う彼の心の激しさが如何ほどであったかを推し量ることが出来ます。

フレデリックは、父親が「フランス人」であったにも拘わらず、自らを「ポーランド人」と称していたそうです。

革命のエチュード(Op.12-12)、スケルツォ1番（OP.20)は、まさにその時期ーワルシャワがロシアによって占領されたとき－に、作曲されたもので、ショパンの祖国に対する思慕と、抗えない運命への憤りといった感情を表している情熱的な作品です。

曲を深く知るにしたがって、時空を超えて、作曲家の心を共有することが出来ることも、ピアノを学ぶ中での醍醐味の一つですね！
