バレエ組曲

「くるみ割り人形」を練習している生徒さんがいます。この作品に曲をつけるようチャイコフスキーに頼んだのは、ロシアの人々でした。

ストーリーは、ドイツの作家「E.T.A ホフマン」氏によって書かれました。舞台での筋書きは、原作とは少々異なっていますが、大まかな流れは変更されていません。

この曲は大人からも子供からも愛されていますが、実は初演時における大衆の反響は二つに分かれました。チャイコフスキー自身は、この曲を自身の傑作とは思っておらず、「眠れる森の美女」の方を良い出来だと自評していたと言われています。

月日が流れ、今では「くるみ割り人形」は多くの人に愛されており、クリスマスの定番音楽になりましたが、季節を問わず楽しめる曲ですね。

There is a student who has been practicing The Nutcracker, a ballet composed by Tchaikovsky that is loved by children and adults. The ballet is based on a story called The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, which was written by the German writer E.T.A Hoffmann. Though the details of the tale change slightly in different performances, the basic story is always the same.

When The Nutcracker was first performed, it received a mixed responce from the public. Some people liked it while many didn't. Even Tchaikovsky himself thought that another music by him 'Sleeping Beauty ballet was much better.

Over time, opinions about The Nutcracker changed. It is now one of Tchaikovsky's most beloved works that tells an exciting and fun story about a Christmas Eve through music!

We can enjoy this music in every season as well as a December tradition in many countries.
