くるみ割り人形 The Nutcracker
待ちに待ったクリスマスイブですね！この季節になると、例年のように「くるみ割り人形」が上演されます。この作品に曲をつけるようチャイコフスキーに頼んだのは、ロシアの人々でした。
ストーリーは、ドイツの作家「E.T.A ホフマン」氏によって書かれました。舞台での筋書きは、原作とは少々異なっていますが、大まかな流れは変更されていません。
この曲は大人からも子供からも愛されていますが、実は初演時における大衆の反響は二つに分かれました。チャイコフスキー自身は、この曲を自身の傑作とは思っておらず、「眠れる森の美女」の方を良い出来だと自評していたと言われています。
