「スタッカート」の奏法は種々多様ですが、中でも「スタッカーティシモ」と言われる非常に短く切るタッチをイメージさせるために、私は生徒さんに「不慮にとても熱い物に触れてしまった時のように、素早く鍵盤の表面から指を離しなさい。さもなければ、貴方は火傷を負うでしょう。」と言うことがあります。
「スタッカートが上達するまで、ピアノのレッスンはここで行うことにしますからね。」と、キッチンの熱せられたコンロの上で、生徒に練習させる先生がいるのだそうです。

Heating up a staccato
Various kinds of staccato touches are needed when playing the piano. I have my students imagine staccato, and in particular, 'staccatissimo' as having 'extremely short sounds'. Therefore, to create this on the piano, I build a picture by saying, "Take your fingers off the keys very quickly as if you've accidentally touched something very hot. If you don't move fast, you'll burn yourself!"
There is a rumor that there's a certain piano teacher who holds her lessons in the kitchen. She apparently has her students actually touch the cooking rings on the stove with their fingertips and says, "Until your ‘staccato’ touch improves, we’ll be having our piano lessons right here!” It is up to you to believe this or not!!
As for me, I never hold piano lessons in my kitchen, so please feel free to come to take your lessons without any fear!
