クラシックとアレンジ　Beauty and Simplicity

成人の生徒さんから、クラシック音楽を弾きたいというリクエストがありました。持って来られた譜面はショパンエチュードやベートーヴェンソナタなど、難易度の高いものでしたが、アレンジすることによって演奏を容易にすることが出来ました。

原曲に手を加えることに異議を唱える方もいらっしゃいますが、クラシックの作曲家は複雑な技法を用いていることがあるため、それが、人々からそれらの素晴らしさを遠ざける結果となることもあります。ですから、必要に応じて作品を単純化することによって、名曲が多くの方々にとって、より身近な存在になります。また、いずれは原曲を演奏するというモチベーションにもつながりますね！

One of my adult students who usually plays pop music told me that he would like to learn a few famous pieces by Beethoven and Chopin. After I showed him the scores, he asked me to simplify them. Though some people assert that the original shouldn’t be altered, I often rearrange them at my students behest.
Classical composers often wrote music in an extremely complicated way, which often made their work stand out, but far removed from what ordinary people could play.
I hope more people will have the opportunity to enjoy playing classical masterpieces incrementally, eventually being able to play the originals!
